Thunderer-class Battleship

Almost enough dakka. Or not.

This one is one of the largest designs planned for the project as a whole, with the possible exceptions of stations and one monster ship I'm in the back-of-the-envelope stage of designing. There's not much to say about the specifics of the design - it's a battleship, meaning it's big, relatively uncommon, ludicrously overpriced and meant to easily blow up things that aren't other battleships. Herds of smaller ships would be a problem too, which is why these would generally travel with a posse or two of escorts; they're as much strategic and prestige vessels as a contemporary carrier is.

I've obviously started doing the turret meshes with this one as well; this is probably the most ridiculous of the planned ships in terms of ow-per-hull-surface ratio. Most of the subsequent designs are going to be quite a bit smaller: the rest of the escort ships and carriers, as well as the remaining fighter and bomber designs before I start dropping examples of the other fleets in.

For scale, we've got a Charybdis-class cruiser in the background, and a Kestrel flying alongside the foreground ship. I haven't been bored enough to work out the exact sizes yet, but that places the Thunderer at about six hundred metres in length.
